Web Design

Patterns

Patterns is a website I created for my own personal use. When I'm shopping for fabric I rarely have all my patterns in my bag with me, so I put together this website which has all the patterns I own with all the relevant information I'd need about them when buying fabric and notions.

To help me find the pattern that I want from my collection I created a home page with search system that allows me to find the type of pattern that I want.

Unfortunately the server I use doesn't allow any server side programming so there's no database attached to the site and the whole thing is built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (jQuery). I also played about the a CSS "Framework" called Responsive Grid System to try and create a more responsive website.

This site is still under construction

MoneyLink

A group project at university where we worked with a client external to the university to create a peer-to-peer money lending website.  My role was predominantly front end design, front end development, and client communication.  As an individual additional feature I also created a contract creation system using PHP and MySQL.

Clowning Around

Clowning Around was the first website I built during my IT degree.  It was a project for a class called Introduction to Web Design.  The brief was to create a static website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript based on the requests of the "client" (the Tutor).  I was tasked with creating a website for a clown school.  The site had to be fun and on theme for the content, include a JavaScript plugin in regards to a picture gallery, and have a page with a form which included JavaScript form validation.

The content and photo images were provided by the "client", the other graphics - such as the logo and banner image - were resources I created in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Looking back on this site there is much that I would change.  I've since learnt how to do photo galleries properly - at the time what I did was a little hack-y.  I would also think more in terms of what the current trends are in web design and play a little more into that.  However, for a first website I am quite happy with it.
